Pipelines

In all the projects listed below, our firm was responsible for establishing the legal property boundaries of the easement, layout of the pipe including the cuts and then the tie in of the same also ensuring there was proper coverage. On the larger pipelines, we were also responsible for preparation of the as-built drawings of the installed pipeline. In the larger pipelines we were required to prepare the easement and or land purchase reference plans.

Mapping

Holstead & Redmond Limited was involved in the UNIVIRS Project in association with Union Gas Limited. This project is a complete Automated Mapping/Facilities Management system. UNIVIRS involves the placement of large scale automated mapping across the company (Union Gas) franchise area and provides capabilities for creating and updating critical facility information. UNIVIRS will provide Union Gas with a solid platform on which future applications can be strategically developed.

The ultimate goal of the UNIVIRS project is to assist and improve day-to-day productivity and effectiveness of various Union Gas departments that utilize geographically-referenced facility data.

Our service is to provide placement of all mains and services.

This project includes parcel mapping for all of the Union Gas territory for all of Ontario. The parcel mapping is based on Teranet Polaris data and assessment roll data.

LANDBASE COMPILATION: Union Gas

Holstead & Redmond Limited has recently completed a series of land base parcel compilations. We provided an extensive title search at the Land Registry Office to assist our drafting department in updating the existing land base to include all deposited Reference Plans, providing better accuracy in the placement of mains.
We also completed land base compilation for New Sarum, Forest and Lambeth for pipeline proposal drawings.

9-1-1- addresses (GPS) - London Division of Union Gas Limited Holstead & Redmond has provided GPS coordinates on all addresses in Oxford, Huron and Middlesex Counties to assist in placement of the services on the UNIVIRS system.

DIGITAL MAPPING: Our firm completed digital mapping of North London for the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial relations. Teranet parcel mapping.

Water Boundary Surveys

GEORGIAN BAY PROJECT:

Holstead & Redmond Limited prepared several site plans and Reference Plans with respect to the re-establishment of shore road allowances in the Georgian Bay area.
This project included the establishment of an extensive GPS network to control the field work, as well as digitizing the water's edge from various plans of reference. The entire project was done in UTM NAD83 coordinates and all the parcels were pieced together as a complete and accurate land base of the area.

This project included field work (GPS), as well as digitizing the waters edge from various plans of reference. This project consisted of 50 PARCELS, as requested by The Madawaska Club in Georgian Bay.

Talisman Energy / Algonquin Petroleum - Reference Plans:

We were preparing complex reference plans for leasing purposes to the Ministry of Natural Resources specifications. These are Crown Lands Plans involved water boundaries around Lake St Clair and Lake Erie. All the shoreline was being tied in using real time GPS.

Legal Surveys

Work for CN Railway Properties Inc.
Various reference plans and topographical surveys as well as legal descriptions/sketches have been prepared by our firm for severances, easement and land transfer purposes . We are one of the prime survey consultants for CN. We have traveled to areas throughout Ontario, such as Fort Frances, Kingston, Gananoque, Barrie, Windsor, et cetera, as well as surveys in our immediate area.

We also negotiate with the appropriate Land Registry Office to determine if surveys or descriptions are required. In addition, we provide title searching and ownership information as required.

In our day to day operations we conduct various types of legal surveys for various clients. These include, Subdivision plans, Condominium plans, Reference plans for severance, easements, right-of-ways and descriptions. Building location surveys for existing and new buildings of all types and sizes. We also prepare lease area certificates governed by BOMA standards.

Engineering and Surveys

In our day to day operation we conduct a number of surveys for the purposes of design and construction of new buildings (commercial & residential), roads, sewers, subdivisions, etc.

Some of the projects that we have worked on in conjunction with Architects and Engineers are:
New residences and the University of Western Ontario and Fanshawe College.
Duty Free store at the Blue Water Bridge in Point Edward.
A number of Shoppers Drug Mart stores and Loblaws grocery stores.
A number of Tim Horton stores.
New schools of various sizes.
Large pool facilities.
A number of City of London infrastructure projects under the direction of various local engineering firms.
Lafarge Canada utilizes our services for quantity surveys for inventory control. We are doing various plants throughout south western Ontario.

Utility Corridor Surveys

We are currently under contract with Hydro One for construction layout throughout the Province of Ontario.
We are currently under contract with London Hydro for construction layout and legal survey preparation for the City of London. We have completed numerous projects for Ontario Hydro before the de-regulation of the hydro-electric industry. Some of these are listed below:

London to Burlington, Ontario transmission corridor.

Various Middlesex county transmission corridors.

Various Bell Canada DSL closet easement plan locations throughout the City of London.

Various transformer station layouts and tower locates throughout our area.

Various 2D and 3D surveys in Ontario, Gaspe and Cape Breton. We have conducted a number of marine projects where we laid out seismic lines, on the water, with the use of GPS equipment.

Numerous Oil & Gas well surveys for application dwgs. To date we have completed hundreds of these types of surveys with the use of GPS and total stations equipment.
